Paris Tales: Marché Vernaison

Okay. So I have to start off the storytelling with what is now known as my favorite place on this earth-Marché Vernaison. Honestly, I don't even have the words to describe how much I love this magical, dust-filled treasure hunt of a flea market. Before I went, one of my friends told me that I should visit it while I was there. I now feel obligated to tell others about it. The address is 99 rue des Rosiers. If you are familiar with Paris, then you know that by far the best way to get around is the Metro. So if you are going by Metro then take line 4 to Port de Clignancourt. If you are driving.....I can't help you one bit. Back to the Metro. When coming out, walk towards the crowds (you'll know what I mean when you're there) and under the overpass. Before the overpass is this huge market that is kind of like any other not-so-classy flea market in the states. We at first thought that this was Marché Vernaison, so we went all of the way through it, and I actually bought a few things. It's full of scarves, watches, shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies that say "Official U.S. Marshall"...which I guess the French think to be pretty legit. (: It all looks something like this:

We were about to leave when we were stopped by a sweet lady from North Carolina who was excited to hear us talking to each other in English. She then asked us if we had found any antiques yet, so we told her no. We all started talking about how it wasn't what we expected it to be. After some other things happened, we eventually all (after going under the now-visible overpass) found a street which had antique shops on either side. We then found this glorious sign:

PURE JOY. We followed this sign down to to this little alley....there are no words. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

^all of the things that I bought throughout the day, for myself. Do you see that leather clutch? It's my new best friend. I hope you all enjoyed a little look into my new happy place.

I'm back, baby!

So I attempted to blog while I was in France, but there were some technical difficulties which resulted in me being locked out of my g-mail, and unable to post anything.

NOW, however, I am back in the good ol' US, and fully recovered enough to type and share some pictures. I've been thinking about what I should post about and what I shouldn't, and I decided to just show you all some random highlights here and there between my regular posts. Those special posts will henceforth be called "Paris Tales".  For now I'll leave you with this little glimpse of what I saw on that fabulous, fabulous trip.

May wrap-up

I can't believe it's been a whole month since I started the Getting out of a rut: May style challenge! I had good intentions with the challenge, but it didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped. When my life gets back in order, I will do it again, for real. As of now, however, here is as far as I got. (:

"all one color"

"boots with shorts"

"go crazy with florals"

Yup, 3 days. That's all. I did abide by the rules for about 20 days, but I didn't get to take pictures of all of those. (: Go outside and enjoy this gorgeous weather that the Lord has given us!
